The Cane Corso, a large Italian guard dog historically employed by Romans in battles, is powerful but extremely intelligent and easy to train for the person willing to put in the time and energy that this breed needs to thrive. It boasts a muscular physique, broad head, and an attentive expression, with a short stiff coat, grooming is easily accomplished with a brush and the occasional bath. While exhibiting minimal shedding, the breed is characterized by a calm, steady nature, coupled with wariness of strangers and a strong resolve to protect its home and family. Corsos thrive under strong leadership and require both mental and physical stamina.
