The Chinese Shar-Pei is renowned for its characteristic short bristly coat and distinctive loose deep wrinkles around its muzzle. This dignified yet independent breed features a blue-black tongue, a broad head, and small triangular ears that accentuate strong jaws, which were originally developed for dog fighting in its homeland. Devoted Shar-Peis can become calm and loyal companions, but they require patience, consistent training and socialization, and moderate daily exercise.
