Bred for stamina during long fox hunts across English countryside, the friendly yet single-minded English Foxhound has superb scenting instincts, relentless determination while chasing quarry for miles, bawling tongue to communicate with hunters, athletic build for fieldwork, emotionally sensitive nature requiring gentle motivational training, wear resistance allowing it to run tirelessly matching the horses’ pace. Not the breed for the average pet owner, this breed excels in a hunting atmosphere or with the experienced dog owner capable and willing to provide for its exercise needs. A strong fence is needed to contain this scent hound when not leashed.
