Easily recognized due to their unique look, the Pug is a sweet little house dog. Known for amusing owners through silly antics and warding off evil spirits by Chinese Buddhist monks during medieval times before becoming cherished lap dogs displayed proudly across royal European courts, the sociable, flat faced Pug has a wrinkly short coat and thick body, and coiled tail tipping sideways during animated scampering. Needing only minimal exercise, the Pug does best living in a home that is air cooled, as they don’t do well in hot weather or participating in strenuous exercise sessions due to their flat face and health limitations. Shedding is moderate and keeping the coat clean is easily accomplished with regular brushing sessions and the occasional bath.
