The quiet and independent little Shiba Inu was originally bred in Japan. Stunning looks and an intelligent posture, the Shiba carries itself like a small fox. This breed features prick ears and a tightly curled tail, and a short, easy to maintain coat. Minimal shedding and easy coat care is accomplished with a brush and the occasional bath. The Shiba doesn’t need a large space and does quite well in apartment living as well as in a home with a small yard. Exercise needs are minimal and easily met with neighborhood walks and games of fetch, but mental stimulation is also important to prevent boredom. Puzzle games and food reward training, while being careful to avoid repetition is a great way to keep this sweet little dog happily engaged and thriving.
