Bred across Siberia for pulling sleds and herd reindeer, the medium sized Samoyed possesses a willingness to please and a happy-go-lucky attitude. They cheerfully display their signature “Sammie Smiles” and are sociable and a delight to be around. They require consistent leadership and activities to combat the energetic athleticism inherited from their ancestral past. This heritage is now successfully applied in enjoying dog sports and a wide variety of outdoor adventures, which they willingly share with indulgent and adoring families. The coat is a stunning, almost blinding white, soft like cotton, and easy to maintain with regular brushing sessions to prevent matting and the occasional bath. Samoyeds do best in homes with an active family looking for a companion to join them on their outdoor adventures and a yard to romp in.
